Let’s get into the fights!
#1: Volkan Oezdemir: -170 vs. Jiri Prochazka: +140
The first fight we’re covering is actually the last prelim of the night. Volkan Oezdemir will welcome Jiri Prochazka to the UFC in a fight that many feel will end before the final bell. When you look at both of these fighter’s records, it’s easy to see why.
Volkan Oezdemir has bounced back from a three-fight skid and has now won two consecutive fights in the UFC. Most recently, he defeated fellow prospect Aleksandar Rakic via decision. Volkan is an incredible striker and now has the kind of experience necessary to become a threat to the champion. The former title challenger enters this bout as the -170 favorite.
This is the first time most UFC betting fans will be exposed to Jiri Prochazka. It’s a long-time coming, as many considered him the most exciting non-UFC fighter in the sport. Jiri is an incredible fighter. He’s still relatively unknown, though, and comes into this one as the +140 underdog.
Our Prediction: Jiri Prochazka Wins Via 1st-Round KO
Why does this fight feature the best UFC 251 betting odds? Jiri Prochazka. We feel that he’ll make a statement in his first UFC fight. At 26-3, he seems poised to move immediately into the light-heavyweight division’s top-5 rankings. Expect him to come out swinging and eventually getting the knockout before the first round ends.
#2: Makwan Amirkhani: -200 vs. Danny Henry: +160
One fight that’s flying under the radar this Saturday night is between Makwan Amirkhani and Danny Henry. These are two featherweight submission artists based in Europe. The loser may see their spot on the UFC roster in jeopardy.
These are some of the best UFC 251 betting odds due simply to where Makwan is listed. The Finnish wrestling standout has proven to be almost unstoppable against fellow grapplers. He only seems to struggle when matched up with tough strikers that can stop his takedowns. At -200, Amirkhani is a solid pick for this card.
That’s no disrespect to Danny Henry. He’s 12-3 in his professional MMA career with a 2-1 record in the UFC. Henry’s most recent loss came against the highly-touted Dan Ige and he has a real chance to prove the doubters wrong on Saturday. Most agree with the oddsmakers that have him coming into this fight with odds of +160 to win.
Our Prediction: Makwan Amirkhani Wins Via 2nd-Round Submission
If Makwan Amirkhani can sharpen his striking skills, he can become a contender in the featherweight division. Danny Henry will be willing to engage in grappling exchanges and that will end up being his downfall. Expect Makwan to pull off the submission early in the second round.
#3: Leonardo Santos: -185 vs. Roman Bogatov: +150
Here’s another fight between two incredible grapplers. Some believe this is one of the hardest fights to call on the entire card. It could go either way and should be an action-packed brawl both on the feet and on the mat.
Leonardo Santos is a training partner of Jose Aldo, a man fighting later in the night against Petr Yan in one of the best main card fights to bet on. He’s shown moments of brilliance in the cage, yet doesn’t perform consistently enough to crack into the division’s top-10. With a win on Saturday, it’s almost guaranteed that he’ll get a big fight in his next outing. Bovada lists him as the -185 favorite.
Roman Bogatov is another tough, exciting Russian prospect that’s been on hardcore fan’s radar for years. At 10-0, some feel he’s the next big thing at lightweight but he’s entering this bout against Leonardo as the +150 underdog. The majority of Roman’s wins have come via submission, yet often it is his striking game that leads to the tap.
Our Prediction: Leonardo Santos Wins Via Unanimous Decision
Leonardo Santos could be in line for a title shot if he fought more frequently. He’s 6-0-1 in the UFC, yet he has only competed twice since 2016. He has all the skills to win this fight, yet is listed as just the slight favorite. That makes these some of the best UFC 251 betting odds to take advantage of.
