The UFC is set to host another exciting fight card on Saturday headlined by two of the top lightweights in the sport. Before Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker go to battle, several exciting fights will be taking place on the prelims and main card. Here, we’re going to take a look at the top 3 UFC bets to make this weekend.
For this card, we’ll be taking a looking at Intertops Sportsbook odds. Intertops is one of the best, most trusted online sports betting sites in the US. Hit that link to earn a great sign-up bonus worth up to $200!
Here are some of the fighters worth throwing some money on this weekend.
#1: Mike Perry (-300) vs. Mickey Gall (+225)
It’s no surprise that all eyes are on the main event of the UFC card this weekend. Over the past few weeks, however, the co-main event has begun generating some serious fan interest. Both Mike Perry and Mickey Gall are in need of a big win and most expect fireworks in this bout.
Perry is one of the hardest hitters at 170 pounds. He’s 1-3 in his past four fights and could see his spot on the UFC roster in jeopardy with another loss this weekend. Expect him to do everything he can to stay on the feet and land the knockout punch.
Mickey Gall entered the UFC after just one professional fight on the regional scene. Considering his lack of experience, he’s done an incredible job in the world’s biggest MMA promotion. Gall enters as the underdog in this one, yet many believe he possesses the skills to earn the win.
Tip: Bet On Mickey Gall Getting the Submission Win
Like many others, I was a little surprised seeing Gall listed as such a large underdog. Mike Perry has shown some serious holes in his grappling and Gall happens to be an elite jiu-jitsu specialist. Getting Perry to the ground probably won’t be easy, but once he does, I think Mickey pulls off the submission win. The odds here make this one of the top UFC bets to make this weekend.
#2: Maurice Green (-230) vs. Gian Villante (+175)
The UFC always loves to kick off the main card of events with a bang. They chose a good option in this one between Maurice Green and Gian Villante. This should be a striking battle and most predict this one will end before the final bell.
Since losing in the semi-finals of The Ultimate Fighter, Maurice Green has established himself as a legitimate UFC heavyweight. Despite losing his past two bouts, many still feel he has a bright future in the sport. As a natural heavyweight, it makes sense seeing him enter this one as the betting favorite.
There aren’t many fighters that are willing to go toe-to-toe quite as much as Gian Villante. He’s alternated wins and losses over the years, yet everyone he faces knows they’ve been in a fight. This will be Gian’s first UFC bout in the heavyweight division and some feel that will end up being the correct career move.
Tip: Bet On Maurice Green Recording His 2nd UFC Knockout Win
It’s hard not to like Gian Villante. Some feel that his move up to heavyweight will pay off and in some ways, a bet on the underdog here could be one of the top UFC bets to make this weekend. Gian tends to get hit, though, and against Maurice Green that usually doesn’t work out. I think Green uses his professional kickboxing experience to get the knockout win on Saturday.
#3: Dan Hooker (+165) vs. Dustin Poirier (-210)
The main event of this card is almost guaranteed to be exciting. Some fans feel this is a potential “fight of the year” candidate before it has even taken place. Much like the co-main event, this one features odds from Intertops Sportsbook that some feel are a little strange.
After a semi-lackluster run in the featherweight division, Dan Hooker decided to move up to 155 pounds. That was clearly the right decision. He’s gone 7-1 in the division, most recently defeating Paul Felder in the main event of a card held in his hometown of Auckland, New Zealand. Hooker is an incredible striker and has shown strong defensive wrestling skills over the past few years.
Some have already forgotten some of the impressive wins that Dustin Poirier has earned throughout his UFC career. The loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov was one-sided, yet prior to that bout, he defeated the former featherweight champion, Max Holloway. Dustin is very well-rounded and will need to switch things up in order to win on Saturday.
Tip: Bet On Dan Hooker Stopping Poirier With Strikes Early On
Dustin Poirier seems to either win spectacularly, or lose spectacularly. I think one of the best UFC bets to make this weekend is on the latter taking place. Dan Hooker just happens to have the perfect skill set to give Dustin trouble. With odds of +165, this one could earn you some serious cash.
There are some highly intriguing fights taking place on the undercard of this event. As you may have already noticed, there are a huge number of amazing UFC bets to make this weekend currently available, as well. Let us know which bout you’re most looking forward to in the comments section below!
